Natalie Portman (June 9, 1981) is an Israeli American actress. Her first role came in the 1994 independent film Léon. She became very widely known when she was cast as Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Portman, who stated that she would “…rather be smart than be a movie star,” completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Harvard College while she was working on the Star Wars films.

In 2001, Portman opened in New York City’s Public Theater production of Chekhov’s The Seagull, alongside Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, and Philip Seymour Hoffman. In 2005, Portman received a Golden Globe Award as Best Supporting Actress in the drama Closer. In May 2008, she served as the youngest member of the 61st Annual Cannes Film Festival jury.

Portman’s directorial debut, Eve, opened the 65th Venice International Film Festival’s shorts competition in 2008.

Laetitia Marie Laure Casta (born May 11, 1978 in Pont-Audemer, Normandy) is a French model and actress.

Casta’s mother, Line Blin, is from Normandy. Her father, Dominique Casta, is from Corsica. She has an older brother, Jean-Baptiste, and a younger sister, Marie-Ange. Casta has made forays into Francophone film and television productions, including Astérix et Obélix contre César (known as Astérix and Obélix vs. César in English language versions), a live-action film of the Astérix world in which she plays a potential love interest for Obélix, portrayed by Gérard Depardieu. More recently, Casta appeared in Les Âmes Fortes, a dramatic film directed by Raùl Ruiz.

Casta was also prominently featured in the music video for the Chris Isaak song “Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing” in 1999. Through most of the video, Casta was seen in a motel room and sexy lingerie while being watched by Isaak in the next room. There were two versions of the video. Casta became the focus of a minor controversy when, shortly after being selected to be Marianne, she relocated to London. Although she stated her move was motivated by professional reasons, the magazine Le Point, among others, suggested that she was trying to escape taxes, something for which French celebrities are often criticized by journalists and left-wing politicians.

Bar Refaeli (born June 4, 1985) is an Israeli model, known for her modeling work and for her relationship with American actor Leonardo DiCaprio. She is the 2009 covermodel of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

Bar Refaeli was born in 1985 into a Jewish Israeli family in Hod HaSharon, Israel. Her parents, Tsipi and Rafael, own a horse ranch. She began a modeling career at the age of eight months, appearing in commercials. She had to wear braces in her early years, postponing her modeling. At age 15, Refaeli returned to modeling with the representation of Irene Marie Models.

Modeling career

Refaeli began her modeling career before the age of 8 months for a baby commercial. By age 15, she was featured in campaigns for the fashion brands Castro and Pilpel, also starring in a commercial for Milki. Refaeli won the title “Model of The Year” in a beauty contest in 2000 and 2001. She was also chosen to be the home model of Renuar fashion network and appeared in their summer 2002 and winter 2003 catalogues.

Acting career

Bar Refaeli co-starred in the Israeli TV series Pick Up in 2005.

In 2009, she will star in an English-language film, Session, directed by Israeli Haim Bouzaglo. The film is a psychological thriller that tells the story of a manipulative psychiatrist, Josh Tellman, who becomes obsessed with a new young patient named “Jibbs.”

Personal life

Previously linked to Baywatch actor David Charvet and Uri El-Natan, Rafaeli began a relationship with American actor Leonardo DiCaprio in November 2005 after meeting him at a Las Vegas party thrown for members of U2. In the course of their trip to Israel in March 2007, the couple met with Israeli president Shimon Peres and visited Refaeli’s hometown Hod HaSharon.

In 2007, Refaeli became a source of controversy when it became known that she had evaded military service, mandatory for Israeli citizens over 18-years-old, by marrying a family acquaintance and divorcing him soon after. Refaeli stated in an interview with Yedioth Ahronoth, “I really wanted to serve in the IDF, but I don’t regret not enlisting, because it paid off big-time,” further adding, “Why is it good to die for our country? What, isn’t it better to live in New York City?” Refaeli has since said the interview didn’t accurately reflect her statements and threatened to file a lawsuit for libel. Consequently, the Israeli Forum for the Promotion of Equal Share in the Burden threatened to boycott the fashion chain Fox if they hired Refaeli, but the two sides reached a compromise in which the model agreed to visit injured IDF soldiers on visits to Israel and encourage enlistment in the army.

Ivanović’s mother, Dragana who is a lawyer, attends all of her daughter’s matches. Her father, Miroslav, a self-employed businessman, attends as many events as he possibly can.
