Carey Hannah Mulligan (born 28 May 1985) is an English actress. She made her acting debut as Kitty Bennet in Pride & Prejudice (2005). Following Pride & Prejudice, she had television roles in the BBC Charles Dickens adaptation Bleak House (2005) and the following year she appeared in The Amazing Mrs Pritchard. In 2007, she began with roles in the one-off television dramas My Boy Jack and Northanger Abbey. The same year, she made her Broadway debut in The Seagull to critical acclaim.

At age 24, she gained widespread recognition for playing the lead role of Jenny in An Education (2009), winning a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Additionally, Mulligan was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance. Following her breakthrough role as Jenny, she later appeared in the dramatic films Brothers and The Greatest. Her upcoming films include roles in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, the sequel to the 1987 film, and Never Let Me Go; both films have 2010 release dates.

Weisz was born in Westminster, England, and grew up in the Hampstead Garden Suburb. Her mother, Edith Ruth (née Teich), is a Vienna-born Austrian teacher turned psychotherapist. Her father, George Weisz, is a Hungarian-born inventor whose family fled to England to escape Nazi persecution. Weisz’s father is Ashkenazi Jewish and her mother has been referred to as either Catholic, Jewish, having Jewish ancestry, and being of part Italian descent. Weisz was raised in a cerebral Jewish household and refers to herself as Jewish. Weisz has a sister, Minnie Weisz, who is an artist.

Weisz was educated at North London Collegiate School. She attended Benenden School and later enrolled in St Paul’s Girls’ School. She then entered Trinity Hall, Cambridge, where she graduated with a 2:1 in English. During her university years she appeared in various student productions, co-founding a student drama group called Cambridge Talking Tongues, which went on to win a Guardian Student Drama Award at the Edinburgh Festival for an improvised piece called Slight Possession.

Cole was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England and lived in an inner city district called Heaton. She is one of five children – one younger brother, Garry, and two half-brothers – Andrew and Joseph, and one half-sister Gillian.

Early life

Winslet was born in Reading, England, U.K., the daughter of Sally Anne (née Bridges), a barmaid, and Roger John Winslet, a swimming-pool contractor. Her maternal grandparents, Linda (Plumb) and Archibald Oliver Bridges, founded and operated the Reading Repertory Theatre, and her uncle, Robert Bridges, appeared in the original West End production of Oliver!. Her sisters, Beth Winslet and Anna Winslet, are also actresses.

Personal life

While on the set of Dark Season, Winslet met actor-writer Stephen Tredre, with whom she had a five-year relationship. He died of bone cancer soon after Winslet completed filming Titanic, so she missed the premiere because she was attending his funeral in London. She and Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio have remained good friends since the filming.

Winslet was later in a relationship with Rufus Sewell, but on 22 November 1998 she married director Jim Threapleton. They have a daughter, Mia Honey, who was born on 12 October 2000 in London. Kayleigh was born in South London, England. Her birth name was Zara, but she urged her parents to call her Layla after the Derek and the Dominos song. Hazell was born in Lewisham, London, England, grew up in Grove Park, and attended the Ravensbourne School in Bromley. Her mother, Amber, is a dinner lady and her father, Roy, is a window fitter; they separated when she was thirteen.

Sex tape

In early January 2007, a sex tape of Hazell and ex-boyfriend Lloyd Miller was released on the internet. The video was shot whilst the couple were on holiday in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain during the previous year, on or about 30 May 2006.

Following the tape’s leak, Hazell was reported to have been very upset, and she called the police in an attempt to find out who leaked the tape. She also “obtained an injunction on grounds of privacy preventing any further publication or promotion of the video” though the video is still widely available on the Internet.

Modelling

At 16 years of age, Hazell left school to work as a hairdresser. Her work colleagues persuaded her to try her luck at modelling. At 17, she competed in The Daily Star’s “Search for a Beach Babe” contest and won. Still not old enough to pose on Page 3, she went to study fashion at Lewisham College. But later, a friend told her about The Sun’s Page 3 Idol competition. Despite some initial uncertainty about entering the contest, she submitted some photos. She was eventually chosen the winner in December 2004. She won £10,000 worth of “sexy clothes” and “a one-year membership of the Rex cinema and bar”. Another part of Hazell’s Page 3 Idol win was a one-year exclusive glamour modelling contract with The Sun.

Hazell is regularly featured in Zoo and continues to appear in The Sun at least once every two weeks. She has been on the cover of The Sun’s 2006 and 2007 Page 3 calendars, in addition to her own wall calendars, the 2007 edition selling 30,000 copies in its first few days of release. In the summer of 2006 the second cycle of Living TV’s Britain’s Next Top Model hit UK screens and Clancy featured as one of the thirteen finalists in the competition, competing over 10 weeks for a desired modelling contract. Clancy was determined to go far in the competition, however was criticized for being more glamour than high fashion. Clancy made it to the final runway show with fellow contestant Lianna Fowler, at the final judging Clancy lost out to Fowler, who won the judge’s hearts by her dedication to the industry. It was during the show, which coincided with the 2006 FIFA World Cup, that her relationship with football star Peter Crouch was revealed. This together with BNTM caused her to make headlines and start a successful media career.

Since appearing on the show Abigail has modelled for Maxim magazine (December 2006), Nuts magazine (November 2006), OK! magazine, GQ magazine (August 2006), The Sun newspaper, the Daily Star newspaper, Sugar magazine, Stars on Sunday magazine and numerous other publications. In 2006, Clancy was the face and body of Pussy Glamore’s winter Lingerie collection alongside Elizabeth Jagger in photos shot by Bryan Adams. She has graced the front cover of FHM magazine three times (December 2006, November 2007 & October 2008) and even been featured in FHM Australia.

In May 2007, Clancy appeared on the front cover of Arena magazine, modelled the Triumph Bonneville Motorbike in the Daily Mail newspaper and was ranked 37th in FHM magazine’s Annual 100 sexiest women in the world poll of 2007.

Clancy has appeared as a talking head in the documentaries Slave To Fashion and The Ultimate Bikini Guide for Channel 4, as a guest on programmes such as Richard and Judy, The Chris Moyles Show, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, GMTV and in her own Reality TV series Abbey and Janice: Beauty and the Best which followed her attempts to break the Los Angeles modelling scene guided by Janice Dickinson who acted as her mentor. Personal life

After football striker Peter Crouch signed for Liverpool, the pair started dating. Clancy became a fully fledged WAG, and became part of the England team’s WAG group during 2006 FIFA World Cup. However, during the tournament, allegations surfaced in several tabloids of cocaine-taking as well as cheating on Crouch with an ex-boyfriend. Clancy was sent home in disgrace half way through the competition, with Crouch having dumped her via a fax issuing a statement via his lawyer disclaiming any further involvement with her: “In light of this, I wish to make the situation absolutely clear: Abi and I were in the early stages of a relationship which, for a number of reasons I decided to end, and accordingly informed Abi of my decision.” Clancy announced via the media that the pictures were taken during her short lived musical career when she was a teenager.

In the period after the England team exited the World Cup, rumours began to surface that the pair were dating again, later confirmed by Crouch removing his legal statement in the Autumn.
