Manasvi Mamgai is a well known Indian model who was just crowned Pantaloons Femina Miss India World 2010 on April 30, 2010. She also won Miss Tourism International held in Malaysia on December 31, 2008 and Elite Model Look, India in 2006. She will now represent India at the Miss World 2010 in china in November.

Manasvi Mamgai was born in Delhi but was brought up in Chandigarh. She is of Garwali origin and spent a lot of her early chilhood in Uttarakhand. As a child she was not just good in studies but was also very active in theatre, dancing, skating and other extra-curricular activities. She did her schooling from Hansraj Public School and Carmel convent in chandigarh. By the age of 14 she had already won many reputed competitions in dancing, singing, skating, etc.

Mamgai represented India at the 12th Miss Tourism International pageant which was held on December 31, 2008 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The pagent had 43 contestants from all over the world. She became the second Indian to win this title after Candice Pinto in 2001. She also won the voters choice Miss Popularity award.

The coveted title of Pantaloons Femina Miss India (PFMI) World 2010 went to Delhi girl Manasvi Mamgai. she won Femina Miss India World 2010 on April 30, 2010 and she will compete in Miss World 2010. She won five subtitles in the pageant i.e. miss catwalk, beauty with a purpose, girl with a golden heart, best skin, natural beauty, the maximum number of subtitles anyone won in the pageant history. She is also the winner of Miss Tourism International 2008. Manasvi is the strongest contender for the Miss World 2010 crown.

Freida Pinto was born in Mumbai to Sylvia Pinto, now a principal of St. John’s Universal High School (Goregaon), and Frederick Pinto, a senior branch manager at the Bank of Baroda. Freida Pinto’s father is from Neerude and mother from Derebail, both towns in Mangalore. Her elder sister Sharon Pinto is an associate producer on the NDTV news channel.

Pinto studied at Carmel of St. Joseph School in Malad and completed her Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English Literature from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She currently resides in Malad, a suburb of Mumbai.

She is also trained in different forms of Indian classical dance as well as Salsa.

Pinto met Rohan Antao while attending St Xavier’s College in Mumbai. The two began dating and got engaged in 2008, but Pinto called off the engagement in January 2009.

Before starring in Slumdog Millionaire, Freida anchored the international travel show, Full Circle on Zee International Asia Pacific in English between 2006-08. Pinto was also featured in several television and print advertisements for products such as Wrigley’s Chewing Gum, Škoda, Hutch, Airtel, and DeBeers. Pinto took time out in December 2008 to star in Canadian Award winning singer song writer Dal Hothi’s music video, I Promise You.Pinto modeled for ten years and appeared in runway shows and magazine covers. She learned acting from The Barry John’s Acting Studio in Andheri and was trained by his mentor Barry John. After six months of auditions, she received a call to audition for Slumdog Millionaire. Pinto auditioned for Danny Boyle and was short-listed and finally selected to star in Slumdog Millionaire.

Pinto made her film debut in 2008. Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of a young man from the slums of Mumbai who appears on a game show and exceeds people’s expectations, arousing the suspicions of the game show host and of law enforcement officials. In the movie, Pinto played the role of Latika, the girl with whom Jamal (Dev Patel) is in love. At the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, the movie won the Cadillac People’s Choice Award. At the 2009 Golden Globe Awards, the movie won four awards. Pinto herself was nominated for “Best Actress in a Supporting Role” at the 2009 BAFTA Awards, and won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture alongside ten other cast members from Slumdog Millionaire.

Pinto has been cast in Woody Allen’s next film set in London. Other cast members include Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, and Naomi Watts. Shooting for the film starts in July 2009.

Kaif was born in Hong Kong to an Indian Kashmiri father (who has acquired British citizenship) and a British mother. She has seven siblings, six sisters and one brother. She was raised in Hawaii. At age fourteen she was approached by an agent and began modeling; her first job was a jewellery campaign. She continued modelling in London.

Professional life

At the age of fourteen, Kaif started modelling for a jewellery campaign in London, and was subsequently discovered by filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who gave her a part in his film Boom (2003).

She moved to Mumbai and was offered a number of modeling assignments. However, filmmakers were at first hesitant to sign her because of her linguistic shortcomings

Sherawat’s birth name is Reema Lamba; she says that she adopted the screen name of “Mallika”, meaning “empress” to avoid confusion with other actresses named Reema. “Sherawat” is her mother’s maiden name. She has stated that she uses her mother’s maiden name because of all the support her mother has provided for her. She has obtained a degree in Indian philosophy from Miranda House, Delhi University.

Mallika’s onscreen debut was in Lak Tunoo, a music video by Surjit Bindrakhia. She attracted wide notice with her appearance in the 2003 movie Khwahish. Born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand to Dr.Ashok Chopra and Dr.Madhu Akhauri, both doctors, Chopra spent her childhood in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, Newton, Massachusetts and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her mother comes from a Bihari Kayastha family settled in Jamshedpur, while her father comes from a family of Punjabi origin, settled in Bareilly.
